Susie Annie Ruth Cooper passed into eternity on Thursday, July 23, 2015. Susie was born in Cullman, Alabama on October 13, 1928. Susie married her beloved husband Don Wiggins in 1949. Susie and Don, a United States Naval officer traveled extensively until Don's retirement in 1968 when they settled in Long Beach, Mississippi with their three children Janet Lee, Deborah Jean (Debby), and Oliver Lee Wiggins. Don passed away in 1988, upon which time Susie relocated to Pensacola, eventually meeting and marrying her second husband Charles Dixon (Dick) Cooper, Capt. USN Retired. Susie and Dick met at the Warrington lodge of the Fraternal Order of the Elks where Dick was a long time member and Susie became a valued member of the Elkettes. Dick preceded Susie in death in 2004. Susie loved ballroom dancing and working in her garden, both of which she fervently pursued until well into her eighties. Her energy and strength of will were an inspiration to everyone she knew and she left a legacy which will be hard to match. I'm sure tonight, Susie is dancing the night away at the Heavenly Elks lodge after spending a full day tending God's celestial garden. Susie is survived by her daughter Janet and her husband Norman Feinberg, daughter Debby and her husband Jim Nolan, son Oliver and his wife DeNaye Wiggins, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be held at the same location at 9:30 AM on Friday, July 31st with burial services to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola at 11:00 AM.
