Stephen Michael Sullivan was born on May 16th, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan. Stephen grew up in Detroit and spent time in Houston before moving to Pensacola - Pensacola was so fitting as Florida is the Sunshine State and Stephen was a ray of sunshine in his family's and friends' lives. Always happy, upbeat, cheerful and talkative. No matter what was going on, Stephen was always there to check in on his loved ones. Graduation? Wedding? No matter how far away he was, you could always count on Stephen to be there, driving overnight if he had to.
Stephen loved sports - he always shared the latest updates on all your favorite sports teams (both the good, and suggestions for improvement!) Stephen was also an excellent coach - coaching his litte sisters' basketball team to victory along with his dad! Sports were a big part of Stephen's life - he met his lovely wife Amy playing sports trivia. Amy and Stephen were married on March 17th, 2013 - St. Patrick's Day. They loved each other dearly. What a fun couple they were to be around. Their love for each other was so clear to see - how they looked at each other, how they finished each others' sentences. And they were so caring, and so thoughtful. Stopping by late at night on a road trip? Haven't eaten yet? Amy and Stephen set to work preparing a gourmet meal from scratch - better than anything served in any restaurant! Gourmet breakfast to follow! You certainly never felt like a stranger around them. Amy and Stephen also loved animals. They took excellent care of their beloved pets. And when they checked in to see how you were doing, they always asked about how your pets were doing too.
Oh Stephen loved Amy so dearly. When she suddenly, tragically passed on April 1st, 2018, a big part of Stephen died too. She was his sunshine - and his world had suddenly become dark. And though he tried so hard - and still was a light in everyone else's life - his grief was just too much for his broken heart. When Stephen passed suddenly on October 21st, our skies darkened, but his soul filled with sunshine when he reunited with his beautiful wife. This knowledge brings us peace amid the sorrow until we are able to hug them both again.
Stephen is survived by his parents, Barbara Stryker and Jerry Sullivan, his step-mother, Christine Sullivan, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Susan and Gary Findlay, his siblings, Mark Sullivan, Jodi Sullivan, Crystal Sullivan, Sarah Sullivan, and Phillip Sullivan, his dog, Remington (Remy) and cat, Lambeau.
Stephen will be deeply missed and will be right there with us all as we cheer on his favorite teams: University of Michigan, Tampa Bay Bucaneers and Amy's favorite, Green Bay Packers.
Stephen's Celebration of Life will be at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery (3351 Scenic Hwy Pensacola, FL) on Saturday June 26th at 2:00.
In memory of Stephen, a donation (money, time, toys or supplies) may be made to your local animal shelter or favorite animal rescue.
