It is with sorrow, yet rejoicing in the promises of our Lord, that we announce the passing of Sharon Johnson, a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all she met. A faithful servant of God, Sharon was called home to her Heavenly Father on October 2nd, 2024, at the age of 85.
Born on September 15th, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Jack Driggs and Rose Marie Price. Her family was her greatest earthly joy. Sharon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Johnson, after 39 years of marriage.
She is survived by her siblings Von, Ky, John, Kevin, and Dan Driggs, her children Randy and Russ Cupps, Mary Paige Cokerham, Rob and Scott Johnson, as well as grandchildren; Nathan, Hannah, Alyssa, Brandon, Misty, Dusty and multiple great-grandchildren.
Sharon bravely fought a long and remarkable battle with stage 4 lung cancer, maintaining an extraordinary attitude despite the odds. In 2023, she moved to Florida to live with her son and his wife, where she thrived in the warm embrace of the ocean air, sand, and her new church. Sharon found renewed joy in her life, particularly in her Bible study groups and in the guidance of a Pastor she loved dearly.
An exuberant fan of the Blue Angels, Sharon declared with peace, “Well, I’m ready to go see Jesus,” after having her photo taken beside Boss’s number 1 jet, with all of the Blue Angel pilots standing tall, by her side.
Her days were filled with love and laughter, thanks to the frequent visits from family and friends. Her recent reunion with her “golf buds,” was filled with non-stop laughter, silliness, and sunsets leading to her final minutes here on earth. Her departure was filled with abundant grace, as she was called home by Jesus in a way both swift and compassionate—beyond what any of us could have ever imagined. We thank you, Jesus!
She was a beacon of love, wisdom, and kindness, always ready with an encouraging word or a helping hand. Her devotion to Jesus was evident in all she did, and she took great joy in sharing her faith with others. She took great pride in her work at Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council, leaving a lasting impact through her dedication and service.
She also poured out her heart and soul to the Whiz Kids program she loved so much, back in Colorado.
Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in the assurance that Sharon is now at peace, wrapped in Jesus’s arms and joyfully reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. We hold to the promise of 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” Sharon is now “dancing with Jesus,” and while she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the promise of the resurrection and the day when we will all see her again.
WE LOVE YOU!
Job well done Faithful Servant!!!
