Sharon worked as a school bus driver for the Escambia County School District until she retired. She loved her kids on the bus, and they loved her more. She also drove the handicapped bus, which held a special place in her heart. She was a living example of patience and kindness and cherished each one of her students. She made many lifelong friends in the school district.
Sharon loved movies, a good game of SkipBo, yardsales, the beach, a Circle K “Famous”, the Florida Gators, her treasured dogs, but most importantly her precious family. Her two daughters were everything to her, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life. She was known as “Mem~Mem” to her grandchildren and to all of their friends. Mem~Mem’s house was the place to be.
She was preceded in death by her stillborn son Bill, her first husband, Clyde Johnson, her mother Hyacinthe Bayhi, and brothers, Aundre Bayhi, "Naughty" Bayhi and "Teddy" Bayhi.
She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Buck Cato; her daughter, Hyacinthe Reaves, her daughter Carrie Hager (Jeff); stepdaughters, Sherry Mitchell (Mark), Theresa Price (Tony) and Donna Heath; grandchildren, Ashley Lord, Taylor Reaves, Cole Hager, Madyson Reaves, Chad Hager, Christyn Hager, Chelssie O'Neal (Corey); also, Keith Marshall (Annie), Shannon Brown (Joe), Joey McDonald, Burt and Jason Price; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Aubree Forest, Macey Deese, Sophie and Sadie O'Neal, and due in February, Sadie Cason. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Arleen Scott (Dan) and Judy Bayhi, as well as her nephew Steve Bayhi and nieces, Shannon and Cheryl Bayhi. Two special friends that will miss her dearly are Linda Lockart and Pat Beasley. She has many other family and friends that loved her so much.
Sharon was the most generous person and would help anyone who needed it. This is one reason why she was so loved by everyone that knew her. She loved to dance and loved spending time with all her “rowdy” friends. She later settled down with her husband, Buck, and they share a lifetime of memories together; one of which is going to Georgia spending time with her sister-in-law, Renee Cato.
Sharon was the light of our lives and was the rock of our family. She was beautiful, had a heart of gold, and loved fiercely. She was the best cook, the best listener, the best shoulder to cry on. She was our ride or die and will be profoundly missed. A piece of our heart is in Heaven with her. We now hold on to our cherished memories of our angel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 20, 2022 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.
