Ruth Morgan Knapp was born on October 18, 1927 in Wilkes Barre, PA. She attended Coughlin high school and business college. Ruth and Charles L. Knapp attended the same school but did not date until after graduation. They were married in June 1951 at West Point, from which Dad had just graduated. Mom became an Army wife and for over 30 years traveled the world. They retired to Pensacola, Florida.
Mom enjoyed visiting new places, bowling and playing games. She especially liked Bingo and usually won. When Dad was still with us, Mom and Dad were able to attend the grandchildrens’ births, graduations and weddings. That was quite an accomplishment, since the family is spread out all over the country.
Several of Mom’s nieces and nephews considered her their favorite aunt. As a cousin wrote,” Your Mom and Dad left us with a book filled with nothing but happiness, laughter and respect.”
Mom is survived by her 4 children: Nancy (John), Carol(Bill), Bob and Lee. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, who loved her very much. We will miss you, Mom, but know that Dad has welcomed you with open arms.
