Ruby Lois Smith Langford went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. A pillar of strength for so many years, And a blessing to all who knew her, she will forever live on in our hearts. She cherished her family and was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, Mema, aunt and friend. Ruby Lois was one of 6 children born to the late Oral A. Smith and Donia Garrett Smith. She was raised in the Brownsville area and was a life-long resident of Pensacola. Lois was very proud of her 38 years of faithful civil service to the Department of the Navy. She received a retirement commendation for her loyalty and devotion to the Naval Supply Center at NAS Pensacola. Her unwavering work ethic and sense of responsibility are a source of pride for the family. She was also very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always a rock of stability and support for the family. She was a strong believer that family should always help family. She never hesitated to help in any way that she could. We will all miss her greatly, but we know that Jesus has his arms around her now and she is at peace.Ruby Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Langford, son James Langford, brother Oral "Buster" Smith, sisters Opal Jarvis, Nelda Dalbey and Joyce Davis, and nephew Mark Dalbey. She is survived by her sister Florence Parker, son Frank Steve Langford, daughter Lenora Gay Schmidt, daughter-in-law Sheryl Langford, grandchildren Stacey (Russell) McCormick, James Leighton (Shannon) Langford, Christina (Pedro) Maranon-Schmidt, Melissa (Joshua) Fink and Michael Langford, great-grandchildren, Blaire, Mason, Jayden, Emma, Rebekah, Conway, Patrick and Levi, many nieces and nephews, and her devoted and constant companion until the end, her beloved poodle, Sam. Honorary pallbearers are James Leighton Langford, Russell McCormick, Mason McCormick, Joshua Fink, Pedro Maranon-Ronzon and James R. Lee. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ruby Lois's name to Covenant Hospice. Always in our hearts you will be. You have made us who we are and we are so lucky to have had you in our lives.
