Bud was born April 4th, 1937, in Junction City, Oregon to Alva E. Percell (d) & Fern Ruthann Dittman Percell (d). Bud had three siblings, Floyd Percell (d), Gloria Percell (d) and Ray Percell of Eugene, Oregon.
He spent his elementary school years in Noti, Oregon. His dad was a mill worker, he and his brother would play at the mill pond, jumping logs for fun. He learned to swim in the Siuslaw river, started trapping by the age of 13. He followed his dad into the Lumber business, continued to trap, picked ferns and huckleberry brush to sell, planted grass in the sea dunes, and fished for Sea Perch. He continued to work in the lumber industry until he enlisted in the Navy.
The Navy brought Bud to Pensacola, where he met the love of his life, Mary Nell Palmer (d). He and Nell were married February 11, 1956. Bud continued his strong work ethic throughout his life. He retired from Armstrong World Industries and owned and operated his own business (Exhaust System Services). Bud was a patriotic American, he ran the American Opinion bookstore, and was a local leader in the John Birch Society. He and Nell had four children, Beverly Ann (d), Steve Percell, Chris Percell (Deborah), Mark Percell (Jennifer). They had five grandchildren, Richard Percell (Brittany), Jason Percell, Jennifer Smith, Tyler Percell and Ryan Percell. They had five great grandchildren, Cameron Percell, Carson Percell, Sophia Reece, Cooper Percell, and Coltynn Percell, all of Pensacola. The grandchildren have more than just the wonderful memories of the many trips, time spent at Munson, riding bikes, go carts and the many of years spent along the sidelines cheering on the baseball games. They also have all the footage, because Bud captured it all, behind a VHS camera. He will be missed by us all.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 8th at Scenic Hills Church of Christ. Family visitation 9:30 - 10:30 am, Open Visitation 10:30 - 11:30 am. Service starts at 11:30 am, followed by a procession to NAS.
