Nancy (Gail) Freeman Shealy, revered as a strong woman of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ passed away on December 3, 2024. Born on March 25, 1939, Nancy was known for her contagious smile, her eagerness to serve, her feisty spirit, and her personal demonstration to love well. She had a beautiful love story with William H. Shealy, Jr. (preceded in death), and was married for more than 63 years. She was born in Atlanta, GA and lived primarily in Norcross, GA before moving to Cantonment, FL with her husband over 20 years ago.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Carol Hamric and husband, Lamar/LaGrange, GA along with Nancy’s 3 children, William “Bo” H. Shealy, III and wife, Melissa/Atlanta, GA, Stephen P. Shealy and wife, Gina/Dawsonville, GA, and Christina S. Harper and husband, Bruce/Buford, GA. Nancy has an extended family of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews all over the world.
Nancy is joined in Paradise by her parents, Clyde and Ruth Freeman, her 3 sisters: Janice Roback, Suzie Weldon, and Alice Money along with many other loved ones and close friends. Nancy had many dear close friends and wanted to be a friend to all.
Everyone that knew Nancy loved her for her unyielding faith, kindness, and sense of humor. She led a life of genuine priorities; 1) God 2) Husband 3) Children/Family 4) Church. Her passion was always to “Be the Church,” and she was for many years by teaching Sunday School and Bible classes, singing in the Church Choir since she was a teenager, leading the United Methodist Women through multiple titles, Ushering at First Church, leading a Boy Scouts’ Troop as Den Mother, and many more. Her legacy will continue in the lives of those she taught and served by instilling great values into our lives.
Nancy loved to travel and did see many wonderful places including her favorite of all “The Holy Land.” She had quite a versatile work history working as a Beauty Consultant, Insurance Agent, Project Manager of a Salt Company, Piano Technician, etc. She always found time to serve others through missions including multiple UMW (United Methodist Women) Missions, “Suit Yourself” at First Church of Pensacola, United Methodist Children’s home, Unwed Mothers, providing meals for the homeless/poor in her community, and many more. Her love for missions continues in the lives of those that are serving because of her example.
