He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Barbara (Thoms) Evers.
He is survived by loved ones, including daughter Summer (Steven) Fletcher, granddaughters Emilia and Finley Fletcher; daughter Alana (Brad) Hamblin, grandson Murphy; sister Suzie (David) Finnerty, nephews Paul (Kat) Samala and John Finnerty, niece Shannon Finnerty; brother Steven Evers, nieces Amanda Flesher and Ashley Evers; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and the many friends who will forever carry Mike in their hearts.
Mike Evers never met a stranger. Friends were for life. Neighbors and acquaintances became forever friends. To those who knew him best, he was like a brother, a man they enjoyed spending time with and who stood beside them through thick and thin. Mike loved people, classic cars and his dog, Jack. But more than anything, Mike loved his family. None more than his daughter Summer and granddaughters Emilia and Finley. Mike was the longtime owner of Maaco Auto Painting, which he and his father opened in 1974.
Fondly known for his generosity and kindness, Mike would go out of his way to help a friend in need (or the friend of a friend of a friend). He was an active member of the Northeast Pensacola Sertoma Club, Krewe of Seville and multiple hotrod clubs. Friends would joke that when they got in a conversation with Mike, especially about cars, it could last for hours. He was a mentor, confidant, and advisor to many in the automotive industry. As a testament to the kind of man he was, when Mike died dozens of friends rallied to support his daughters and take them under their wings. Mike will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 10th, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Showing from 9-11 am with funeral at 11 am for family and close friends. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, at Pensacola Country Club at 11 am; all who loved Mike are welcome to attend. If you would like to make a donation in Mike’s name, please send it to Northeast Pensacola Sertoma Club.
