I can’t believe it’s a year that Mark has been gone or at that, even gone at all…….I went to school with Mark from 7th grade onto graduation. He was always a kind, caring person. It was wonderful seeing him at our 46th year reunion…..we hadn’t had one in a long time…that’s why the odd number…..

Oh Mark, you are missed by your huge group of brother's and sister's of harmony in the Christ Episcopal Church, and The Choral Society of Pensacola.  I am so glad our paths crossed, and I miss  seeing your smiling face EVERY Monday, and Wednesday and at rehearsals/performances/services .  You drove many miles to be with us for those sessions - and we all love you for it, and wish you were still here.  Memories bring back you.

My brother, was so funny and kind to everyone. I found this picture of him at the Kennywood Amusement Park, he was 18 yrs. old.  This was 1 year before his children were born.  I will miss his beautiful voice and his selflessness to  my mother and I.  Nina

I remember Mark fondly for his sense of humor and love of music. When I was 16, he took me to see “The Sound of Music” at the Warner Theater in Pittsburgh, PA. We were celebrating our February birthdays. We had a great time, and that musical is one of my favorites still. My deepest sympathy to Mark’s family and friends. May he rest in peace. 

Mark was part of our family, growing up on the corner of Chambers lane and Weavertown.  
The trio was Ronnie, Roy and Mark.  
After reconnecting on Facebook he would still tell me of all the memories of my family and could recall all my relatives in great detail.  
He and I both ended up in Florida, but always had our precious memories from Pa.  
He was a man to be admired and did so much with his life teaching music and being a part of singing in choirs.  I was so happy to see that he found happiness in his life and was so very positive.
I hope him and my brother Ronnie are reconnecting in heaven.  
But his best reconnecting will be with his dear Mother whom he greatly loved and showed it every day in his pictures and posts of her.  
He was such a dear sole and will be so missed by all who knew and loved him.  Love, Linnie

Words are never adequate to express one's feelings at a time of sadness.  Mark was a member of my staff and demonstrated exceptional  musical talent.  He met challenges presented and provided our elementary age students with opportunities to succeed.  One of my fond memories was the performance of his Handbell Choir.  Mark, with his instruction and encouragement enabled youngsters to successfully master the art of handbells! Mark's life revolved around his love for his family and his love of Music. He leaves us memories of his musical accomplishments. May he rest in peace.

To the Mark Hughes family ……..I knew Mark from probably 7th or 8th grade on in Canonsburg, PA. Always a kind, caring person…..fast forward to our “46 yr reunion…not 45……..but he was there and it was so nice to see him……and then,  kept up on Facebook since that time. While I’m sad he is gone…..he is suffering no more and with his beloved Mother……..happy to have known you, Mark…..if you run into Ronnie Rubis, give him my best ……😘🤗

I know how much you loved staying with us in No Wildwood, so many great memories of going to the beach and tuna sandwiches!you were so good to Doris , she loved you. When we meet again we will have one of my cheese omelettes!❤️❤️❤️ Love you my Summer husband.

Dearest Mark my heart is broken writing this.  I’m glad our paths crossed in this lifetime!  God knows we didn’t always agree, but we had a unspoken love for one another that was  unbreakable. I’m glad you found peace and happiness in Florida. I’m just sorry that it was cut short.  You were so good to so many people especially your family. Your children were everything to you. Your love for education and music were stellar. Your personality was like no one else’s. I’ll never forget when we met at the Stagecoach Bar in 1994.  Little did we know our lives would be entangled together till now.  I know you suffered these last few months but now you can rest easy. The pain and sorrow of this world are over for you.  You can be with our maker and all your loved ones that went before you.   I love you Mark and always will. May God bless you and be with you all through eternity. Until we meet again, RIP.   PS. You’ll be able to get as much meatloaf and red jello with a dollop as you want now!  Lol. 

The bonus grandfather, that was always so fun to be around! Always in good spirits and a big smile on his face! Just simply a great man all around, you will be missed! Give daddy (Greg) a hug for me! Rest well 🤎

In on a visit from Sweden. A cold, snowy Maryland day. You said: I'll pick you up. What's the adress, I'll take you for dinner. Me: Mark, it's a snow storm, we'll do it next time.
A car pulls up in front of my friends house one hour later.
My friend: Vivi, who's that handsome man? You know him?
Me: Yup. It's Mark. He wants to take me out for dinner in College Park.
Mark, I told you then and I'm telling you now: meant the world to me.
A true gentleman you are.
