Margie grew up in Warrington, graduating from Pensacola High School. She went to work at Reynolds Music House for a few years and later, Southern Bell (Bell South). She married Leo Switzer in the ’50's, who was stationed at NAS at the time. They were married in the Church of Christ.
They moved to different parts of the country for work, including California, Arizona and Tennessee. Margie retired from two different places of employment, first Bell South, then Walmart. She was a hardworking, loyal and caring person. Although she never had any children of her own, she adopted many dogs and cats along the way, and took care of people who needed help. She was always willing to help people financially or whatever way they needed it, giving them clothes, dishes, cars and money, slipping it to them quietly with a “hey” and a wink.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, Herman and Venie May, brothers Eddie May and Sidney May, and sister Shirley Moog. She is survived by sister-in-law Mary May, cousins Elda Telhaird Ruth Jernigan and Owen Davis, nephew Greg May and wife Terri (Hannah) May, and niece Cheryl Sadro (Frank), other cousins, nieces and nephews, and her last dog, Maxie.
Family visitation will be at the chapel at Bayview on Scenic, Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm, she will be laid to rest after a graveside service at 3:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Specialty Health and Rehab and Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care she received.
