Capt. James E. Kight, 78, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida. Capt. Kight retired after serving 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was working as a NETC supply analyst. He was a highly decorated veteran who achieved many medals and awards including two Purple Hearts, a Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, a Naval Achievement Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and 20 Air medals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Olive Branch, MS and was of the Methodist faith.
James is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Dale Spencer Kight, 4 sons; Bryan (Jan) Kight of Jacksonville, NC, John (Ginny) Kight of Indianland, SC, Bart (Opal) Kight of Jacksonville, NC and J. Lynn (Angela) Hardin of Cleveland, MS. He is also survived by two daughters Beth (Leo) Scott of Charlotte, NC and Dallas (Christopher) Lefebure of Newtown, PA. James has 13 grandchildren Brent (Mandy), J.T., Jonathon (who followed in his grandfather’s footsteps by joining the Marine Corp), Caroline, Matthew, Trevor, Megan, Shelby, Sarah, McKenzie, Cole, Katie, and Spencer. James is also survived by one sister Sandra Reeves of Atlanta, Georgia, many nieces and nephews, and best friends Carlos and Judy Shannon.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 2:05 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, customary remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, ASPCA, or the Pensacola Humane Society.
