James “Melvin” Hall, 83, of Pensacola, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
Melvin was born July 7, 1938 in Natchez, MS to James Louis and Ruth Hall. He Graduated from Pensacola High School in 1958. He worked at Chemstrand (later acquired by Monsanto) where he met and married the love of his life, Helen E. Hall in 1961. He retired from Monsanto after 32 years of service where he was a chemical operator and an electrician. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife all over the country in their motorhome with his bass boat attached to the back. He loved to fish, watch football, boxing, and NASCAR. He loved people and never met a stranger, and was a huge prankster always looking for a laugh. His greatest accomplishment in his life was his family. When asked each year what he wanted for his birthday he always said, “Just to be with my family.”
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 59 wonderful years, Helen E. Hall; his two daughters: Donna Lewis (Eddie) and Brenda Walker (Jim); four grandchildren: Kyle Lewis (Kailla), Kaitlyn Lewis (Doug), Cory Bradley (Kyle), and Phillip Walker (Kelly); three great grandchildren: Wyatt Henry Walker, Noah Lewis, and Alden Walker; two younger brothers: Steven (Patricia) Hall, and Donald (Linda) Hall and his Aunt Katherine “Kat” Rodriguez . He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents James and Ruth Hall and his younger brother Michael Hall.
The family will have a private service at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with interment to follow at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Melvin’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
