Hubert was born to the late Paskar Hugh and Cora Lee Paulk on August 11, 1931, in Hodgesville, Alabama. Hubert was the youngest of eight children. Hubert married the love of his life, Robbie Nell Paulk, on February 16, 1950, and spent 71 years in dedicated and loving marriage until she preceded him in death in August 2020. Hubert is survived by his two daughters, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Hubert and Robbie resided in Dothan, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida throughout their lives. Hubert proudly served in the National Guard and was mobilized in the Army during the Korean War. Hubert honorably discharged and resumed civilian life with his wife in 1952. Hubert worked for Bell South Company for over 30 years before retiring and becoming self-employed for Paulk Telephone for another 20 years. Hubert was a partner in Robbie’s craft business, Robbie Dolls, and provided all the wood work and general labor to make his sweet wife’s business a success. Despite a life of hard work, Hubert also made time to serve his church as a deacon of Scenic Heights Baptist church, be his family’s spiritual leader, and a member of the Seniors Sunday school class. Aside from his duties in the church, Hubert was a true man of God outside the church and was known as a kind and loving soul who would help anyone in need. Hubert was responsible for making sure all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren had the opportunity to know and learn about the Lord. Hubert was a steadfast husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who worked his whole life to provide for his family, church, and nation. Hubert was known to say, “If Robbie and my children are not happy, I can’t be happy.” This philosophy reflected in the love, support, and guidance he provided those he loved every day. Hubert was a diehard Alabama fan and proudly wore his hounds tooth fedora or a good ‘ol Alabama ball cap all the time. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work ethic, faithfulness, and commitment. His family will work hard every day to live up to his legacy in his honor.
