Gerald “Ben” Edward Benham passed away on July 3, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Ben was born in Rochester, NY to Lillian and Edward Benham on Sept 25, 1929. Ben retired from the Navy after 20 years of service and retired from Civil Service after 30 plus years as a Communication Specialist on NAS Pensacola (NCTS). Ben was married 52 years this July to Eleanor “Faye” Frazier Benham. After retiring from the Navy in 1966, he was proud to call Pensacola his home where he and Faye raised their four children. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and youngest daughter, Deborah Benham Floyd. Ben is survived by his wife Faye, daughter Brenda Benham, sons Randy and Tommy Benham, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Prior to his death, Ben enjoyed spending time with his dog and cat while surfing the internet and bird watching. He loved plants and would surround himself with different types of lush plants or flowers. He loved to collect and paint model cars and loved to spend Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR. Ben was a proud American who had great respect for this countries flag and his eyes would tear up every time the National Anthem was sung on television. His favorite songs were Ava Maria and How Great Thou Are by Elvis. Ben was a loving husband, great provider as a father and leaves his grandchildren with great memories of spending summers at his home.
Before his death, Ben accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior so we know we will see him again. The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice Staff, especially Hollie and Jason, for their love and support
