Erica Beth Swanson, 58, of Pensacola passed away on July 16, 2022. She was born on December 29, 1963 in Melbourne Florida to Maj. Edmund Swanson and Charlotte (Ruediger). She was a breast cancer survivor for over 25 years.
She grew up an Air Force “Brat” moving with her family to Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Washington D.C., Bangkok, Thailand, and Altus, Oklahoma. She graduated from Altus High School. She studied architecture at the University of Michigan on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. Upon graduation she was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Air Force. She married Robert Brown after graduation. In the Air Force, she was an architectural officer in Ohio. After active duty, she worked for architectural firms in
Ohio, Nevada, Northern Virginia and finally in Pensacola, most recently with George Koper Associates. During her career she worked on projects for a major restaurant chain, corporate and government buildings and most recently many medical facilities. Erica enjoyed traveling. When she was 8, the family returned from Thailand via Europe completing a trip around the globe. As an adult she continued with travel to Asia and Europe as well as the Americas. She enjoyed scuba diving and sometimes would dive
while on trips. She loved animals. She had pets throughout her life and supported saving Florida's manatees through Save the Manatee Club.
She was preceded by her father Edmund Swanson and grand-parents Bernhardt (Ben) and Rose (Provost) Swanson and Rev. Gerhardt and Ida (Krenske) Ruediger as well as uncles and aunts and extended family. Erica is survived by her mother Charlotte, brothers Shawn (Barbara) Swanson and Scott (Regina) Swanson, nephews Nicholas (Stephanie) Swanson and Ross (Anna) Swanson, step-niece Julie (Bobby) Stanton, uncles Robert Swanson and Rev. Paul (Loetta) Ruediger, and many cousins.
Service will held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 333 Commerce St. in Warrington. Visitation before the service starting at 10:30; funeral service at 11:30. Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
