Eddie D. Fowler, 81, of Cantonment, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary Catherine (Lauramore) Fowler and Staten Fowler, his former wife of 11 years, Barbara Heron Fowler, his daughter Tammy Yoder, his grandson Austin Cullison, his sisters: Joyce Andrews, Edrie Nasworthy, his brothers: Harry Fowler, Staten Fowler Jr., His Father-in-law James B. Holley.
He is survived by his wife Martha Holley Fowler of 34 years, Cantonment, Fl., daughter Patricia Blackburn, Americus, Ga., and step-children Christopher Van Ess (Becky), Cantonment, Fl., Teri Meedel (Chris), Round Hill, Va., sisters: Kathryn Whitesides, Gainesville, Fl., Eloise Ford (Alfred), Gainesville, Fl., and brother Joey Fowler (Betty), Palatka, Fl. He is also loved by his grandchildren Amanda Jones, Arcadia, Fl., Seth Van Ess, Green Bay, Wi., Abby, Ella and Chase Meedel, Round Hill Va.
Ed was in the United States Navy for 27 years, retiring as an E-7 due to heart problems. He was a Submariner as a Torpedo man during his career in the Navy. He worked at NAS Civil Service Pensacola, Fl. as a Management Analyst for a few years. He volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital, worked in the Cath Lab and other areas they needed. He was in the Mother Seton Guild and President for a term. He always enjoy helping anyone that he could. His passion was camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. Rev. Paul Brooks will be officiating the service. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or a donation made to your favorite charity.
A visitation for Eddie will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534. A funeral service to follow at 12:00PM. A committal service will occur from 2:00 PM to 2:20 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
Eddie will be laid to rest in Barrancas National Cemetery.
