Mr. Denison was born August 28, 1933, in Knox City, Texas. At a young age he moved to Dallas, Texas with his parents: Thomas Leroy (Jinks) Denison, of Rule, Texas, and Mary Jane (Brown) Denison, of Munday, Texas. Mr. Denison attended Winnetka Elementary School, Wheatland Elementary School, Greiner Middle School, and he then graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in 1952. Mr. Denison is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Heidi Agatha Dismukes Denison, in addition to his three sons and their wives: Gary Thomas & Susan Denison of Martinez, GA, Scott Randall & Cheri Denison of Swannanoa, NC, and Charles Russell & Ann Denison of Swannanoa, NC. Mr. Denison’s legacy includes two grandsons: Andrew Scott Denison and Michael Thomas & Juliet Denison with his two (currently) great-grandchildren: Mikaela Grace & Declan Thomas; and five granddaughters: Kathryn Heidi Denison, Ashley Brooke Denison, and Heather Burnett, Chrissy Burnett Andrews, and Heather Burnett.
After high school, Mr. Denison joined the US Navy, where he became an Aviation Machinist Mate and was transferred to NAS North Island where he worked on the test line. On August 19, 1954, Airman Denison married Heidi Agatha Dismukes, from Prattville, Alabama, in the Base Chapel.
In May 1955, Mr. Denison and his wife returned to his home in Dallas, Texas, where he was employed by Delta Airlines. During the Hungarian revolt of 1956, Mr. Denison returned to active duty in the Navy, and was assigned to NAS Dallas, Texas. He was transferred to NAS Glenview, IL, and after advancing to Chief Petty Officer, he was assigned to the Staff of Chief of Naval Air Reserve Training. In 1969, Chief Denison was transferred to NAS Pensacola as one of two Periodic Aircraft Rework, Liaison, Chief Petty Officers assigned to Chief of Naval Air Reserve Training.
Chief Denison was subsequently transferred to Navy Patrol Squadron 62 (VP 62), NAS Jacksonville, FL, where he was the Plank Owner Maintenance Chief. After being promoted to Senior Chief, he was assigned as the Squadron Quality Control Chief. During this the squadron was transitioning from the P2V-7, Neptune, to the P3 Orion. Senior Chief Denison completed 22 years of active Naval Service on August 30, 1974, at which time he retired from Active Naval Service.
Now retired, Chief Denison entered Florida Community College in Jacksonville, FL, where he completed his training as a Registered Nurse (RN). He worked in the emergency rooms at University Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida and Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Mr. Denison attended Warren Wilson College / Memorial Mission Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia, in Asheville, NC where he graduated in August 1979. Upon completing the prescribed course of study, Mr. Denison took his board exams and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (RA) in January 1980.
Mr. Denison worked in this capacity as an anesthetist for the next twenty-four years. He, and his beloved wife, Heidi, formed Pacer Anesthesia services, P.A. working mainly at small out of the way hospitals. His stated goals in life were to serve his God, his Country, and humanity in that order. He had a varied and energetic life. His hobbies included photography, building model airplanes & race cars, hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a communicant of All Saints (1928 BCP) Episcopal Church, and a Vestry Person. He request that any memorials may be given to the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pensacola, Florida. Interment will be at Barrancas Military Cemetery in NAS Pensacola, FL.
