Charles Buford Beard, 81, of Columbiana, AL passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, after a rapid battle with Bulbar ALS. He was a 20 year veteran of the US navy as an Air Traffic Controller. He later worked for the FAA and DOD for another 20+ years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Willie Beard, brother, Doyce Beard and daughter, Deborah Beard.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly; son, Doug (Cindy); daughter, Diane (Bo); grandchildren CJ Beard, Joshua (Jen) Beard, Shelby (Mark) Bookout, Ashleigh (Phillip) Floyd, Katie Kalbach and Laurel Clarke; great grandchildren; Jayden Beard; Bella, Lily and Delilah Bookout; Haleigh, Evan and Aubreigh Floyd; Cameron Simmons and Baylen Bjorklund; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
