She was born the second of four children to Arturo and Luz Elizondo in Del Rio, Texas. She attended San Felipe High School in Del Rio where she played the clarinet in the school band and, after graduating in 1952, entered the US Air Force. She served at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas receiving an honorable discharge in 1953, after marrying John "Jack" Curtis. She subsequently lived in Charleston, SC, Naha, Okinawa, Klamath Falls, OR, Aviano, Italy, Scott AFB, IL, El Paso, TX, Lubbock Tx, Ft Worth, TX, Lewisville, TX, Austin, TX and finally Gulf Breeze, FL. Caroline retired from civil service in 1997. She enjoyed garage sales and thrift shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arturo and Luz Elizondo and her two brothers Manuel Elizondo and Raul Elizondo.
Caroline is survived by her older sister, Elisa; her four children, Cynthia, Michael, Mark and Michele and grandchildren, Savanna Jayde Curtis, Jacob Bass and Dylan Curtis.
A visitation will occur Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A funeral service for Caroline will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. An interment will follow services on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
