The untimely death of Brian Shoemaker took place on May 27, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida. He was 40 years of age.
Brian was born on July 27, 1975, in Athens, Georgia, the youngest child to Connie and Richard Shoemaker. He lived most of his life in the Pensacola bay area. A graduate from the University of West Florida, he worked as an archaeologist in the southeast region for almost two decades. He fell in love with Jen Knight, and they married in 2012. Under a year later, they welcomed their favorite person and only child into the world, Stella Rose Shoemaker. A devoted husband and father, Brian lived a simple, quiet, and content life with his family.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jen Shoemaker, and their daughter, Stella; his mother, Connie Shoemaker; his father, Richard Shoemaker with stepmother, Carol; his sister, Lisa Erwin with her husband, David; his stepsister, Sarah Fisher; his stepsister-in-law, Mandy Brady; his mother-in-law, Sharry Knight; his brother-in-law, Christopher Knight with wife, Courtney, and their daughter, Marion.
Brian is preceded by his grandfather, John A. O’Neil, and grandmother, Mary O’Neil; his grandfather, Louis C. Shoemaker, and grandmother, Stella C. Shoemaker; his father-in-law, David Knight.
A garden is to be built in Brian’s honor. In lieu of flowers, plants that can be added to the garden will be graciously accepted. Also, Brian’s employer is starting a scholarship fund for his daughter, Stella. Anyone is welcome to contribute to this fund. Details for the scholarship fund will be available at the memorial.
A memorial will be held on Monday, June 6, at End of the Line Café at 5pm, followed by a reception. All are welcome to attend.
