1924 - 2013
Billie Pat Cary Decker, 89, of Pensacola, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Covenant Hospice. She was born to CC and Mamie Cary on February 10, 1924 in Rome, GA, attended FL State (then known as FL State College for Women), and was a lifetime member of Warrington UMC.
She was a member of many organizations, such as: Daughters of the American Revolution, Nat’l Soc. Magna Charta Dames, Nat’l Soc. Colonial Dames 17th Century, Daughters of the America Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Nat’l Soc. of United Daughters of 1812. Billie Pat was also a volunteer at the Nat’l Museum of Naval Aviation, logging in more than 6,000 hours.
She was predeceased by husband, Jack Decker; and “susta” Jean Adams; and is survived by daughter, Robin D. (Chuck) Johnson; 4 grandchildren: Ada (Scott) Wall, Elizabeth Sverak, Tonya (Marc) Fiellin, and Eric (Charissa) Johnson; and 8 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Bob Bailey, will be held at Warrington UMC on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 3pm. Private burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Warrington UMC 301 E. Winthrop Ave Pensacola, FL 32507. The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Covenant Hospice for their special care and attention. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
