Anne Marie Benton

Anne Marie was born on Wednesday, August 24, 1938 in Pensacola, FL to Johnie Clifford Tharp, Sr. and Marie Agee Tharp. Anne Marie lived most of her life in Pensacola. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1956 and graduated from Judson College in Marion, AL in 1960. She returned to Pensacola and began her career in teaching.

Anne Marie was an active member of East Hill Baptist Church for more than fifty years. She taught Sunday School and served on various committees over the years. In 1961 she met the love of her life, Charles M. Benton at church. They were married on September 22, 1962 and continued living in Pensacola until his death in 2019.

After Charles passed away, Anne Marie moved to Owensboro, KY to live closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She moved into One Park Place, an assisted living complex, where she made many new friends that she enjoyed visiting and going to activities with.

Anne Marie is survived by daughter Susan McDaniel and her husband Steve of Owensboro, KY and son John Mark Benton and his wife Teresa of St Augustine, FL; five grandchildren -Alec McDaniel, Jared McDaniel, Mei-Ling McDaniel, Julia Benton and Charlie Benton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 2pm with a private family burial following.
