Kenneth “Windy” Laverne Winnette, 85, entered into the home of his heavenly Father on July 8, 2018. Born Feb. 3, 1933 in Huntsville, AL, Kenneth and his family moved to Ft. Payne and then to Pell City, AL. Upon his graduation from Pell City High School, Kenneth honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force in England during the Korean Conflict. When his tour of duty ended, he returned to Pell City and married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Fraim in 1954. The couple moved to Birmingham where Kenneth worked for 37 years for Alabama Power Company, advancing through the ranks from tree crews to lineman to engineering. Kenneth and Jo Ann were faithful members of Central Park Baptist Church and Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was served as a deacon. In 1991, Kenneth and Jo Ann retired to Pell City. They became active members of First Baptist Church of Pell City where Kenneth also served as a deacon. Kenneth was a proud member of the Ben M Jacobs Masonic Lodge and a true Alabama fan.
In addition to his beloved wife of 64 years, Kenneth is survived by his sons, Doug and (Charlene) Winnette of Marietta, GA and Bob and (MorrisAnn) Winnette of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Trey Winnette of Talladega, Kylie Tucker of Huntsville; Donna and (Justin) Weinmann of Cumming, GA, and David and (Gina) Winnette of Brooklet, GA; great-grandchildren, Abbott Weinmann and Jacen Winnette, Tristan Stokes, Autumn Stokes, Maegan Thomas and Ethan Thomas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11 from 10 AM-11AM at First Baptist Church of Pell City. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Pell City. Graveside services will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist of Pell City.
