He was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and Trinity College; he worked as an engineer and as a millwright in the steel industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Gerrard and Edna McManus; and his wife, Ann Kimber.
He is survived by a daughter, Lynn (John) Smith of Cropwell, Ala.; a son, Bill Kimber of St. Petersburg, Fla.;
four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Kacsel of Holland, Mich.
Mr. Kimber lived in Hennepin for 50 years. He became a Friend of Bill W. on Oct. 21, 1967, and was sober for more than 56 years. He was the last survivor of the four founders of the LPOS Group of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville. Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m in Riverside Cemetery, Hennepin.
Helmer-Shields Funeral Home will direct the service.
