Yvonne Crockett of Birmingham, AL, age 95 passed away January 12, 2023. A beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Yvonne was an upbeat, optimistic and vibrant presence for her family and friends. She was a devoted Christian lady.
Native of Waco, TX, born on May 30, 1927, Yvonne was the daughter of James Foy, Sr. and Kathryn Stovall Foy. Yvonne met the love of her life, Jack Crockett, at Texas Christian University. Yvonne and Jack married on June 4, 1947, and they had an adoring, 70-year marriage and an amazing partnership.
Yvonne and Jack lived in Dallas and Oklahoma City before settling in Birmingham (Homewood), AL, in 1962. Upon arriving in their new home with their five children, they joined Trinity United Methodist Church and were members of a Sunday School class for 50-plus years where they enjoyed lifelong friendships. After the loss of Jack, she moved to Celebration Village in Suwanee, GA, to be near her family where she spent a lot of time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yvonne developed close friendships with the residents of Celebration Village and felt right at home.
She was an exceptional interior designer. Yvonne was an artist. She was a marvelous cook and an incredible hostess who loved entertaining and having her home full of families they were close to in Homewood.
Yvonne loved her family and cherished the times when all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were under one roof, her roof! Yvonne and Jack enjoyed travel and adventures with family and friends. She was a Texan at heart and a big Bama fan. Yvonne was a good athlete. She was blessed with excellent health throughout her life.
Yvonne is predeceased by her husband Jack Ray Crockett, Sr. who died November 7, 2017, her beloved brother James (Tonny) Foy, Jr., her sons Randy Crockett, Ray Crockett, and Keith Crockett, her grandson Jeff Crockett, and granddaughter Christin Crockett. She is survived by her children Kent Crockett and Kathy Crockett Starks (Bob) and her daughters-in-love Terri Cook, Karon Crockett, Donita Crockett, and Eva Crockett. She is survived by her six grandchildren Carrie Crockett Sammons (Joel), Natalie Crockett Poole (Langston), Randal Crockett Lingo (Kurt), Manning Edson, John Crockett, and Spencer Crockett. Yvonne is also survived by her six great-grandchildren Jonah and Lucy Sammons, Jeffrey Poole, Rowan Lingo, Wyatt, Beau and Owen Crockett. Additionally, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Craig Foy (Tammy), Kelly Foy (Shelley), Cindy Crockett Brooks (Tom), Debbie Crockett Kerr (Ed), Jim Crockett, Jr. (Laurie), and David Crockett (Pam).
The family wishes to express much gratitude to Celebration Village for their beautiful and caring environment and their kindness shown to Yvonne.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Celebration Village, 3000 Celebration Blvd, Suwanee, GA.
