William Melvin Watson, 68 of Calera, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Mr. Watson was an avid golfer and a huge Alabama fan. He was a dedicated husband and father, and was the best “Papa” ever. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his parents, Erbie and Sadie Watson; brother, Erbie Lee “Jr.” Watson (Lennie); sister, Linda Stout; and brother-in-law, Ed Crowson. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Patricia Watson; daughters, Jennifer Smith (Amy Lajoie) and Jessica Smith (Hollace Tarvis); sister, Peggy Crowson; brothers-in-law, Robert Stout and Frank Colvin (Konstantinos Chatzivoulgaris); grandchildren, Noah Smith, Kendalynn Lajoie Smith and Dylan Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also left to cherish his memory are all those he considered “family.”
The celebration of Mr. Watson’s life will be at 10am on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 8:30am.
