Troy graduated from Mellow Valley High School. A U.S. Army veteran, he worked in management for Alabama Power Company and retired in 1994. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea and in his leisure, he enjoyed Auburn basketball, gardening, traveling, and spending all possible time with his grandchildren.
Troy is survived by his wife, LaJune Carter Mitchell, to whom he was married on July 1,1961; two children, Timothy Mitchell and his wife Julia of Longmeadow, MA and Tanya Hardin and her husband John of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren, Ford Mitchell, Katy Hardin, Emory Claire Mitchell, Sarah Hardin, and Langdon Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2024 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Celebration of Life for Troy Mitchell at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage. Private burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
