Following a brief illness and surrounded by his loving family, Tom Douglass (also known as Tommy or “Slick”) passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on December 15, 2018.
Tom was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, graduated from Huntsville High, and attended Florence State University. He was preceded in death by his parents John Anderson, Sr. and Juanita Thomas Douglass; his brother John Anderson Douglass, Jr.; and his nephew and namesake Thomas Jason Douglass.
After his retirement, Tom enjoyed being a loving “Pops” or “Poppy” to his grandsons and granddaughter, watching Auburn Tiger football games, playing golf, and hanging out with his Sneaky Pete buddies.
Tom is survived by his wife Sylvia Burcham Douglass; son Chad Douglass (Karen); daughter Ashley Morrow (Vic); grandsons Dalton Douglass, Ashton and Grayson Blair, Chase and Jake Callahan; granddaughter Serena Lucas Bright (Jason); great-grandson Chase Morgan Bright; Sister-in-law Marie Douglass; nephews John Douglass, III and Blaine Douglass (Lori); nieces Kendall and Sloan Douglass; many friends, including Jesse Horton, Dean Charles, Bill Spencer, and Ronnie Landrum; his little Chihuahua Toe; and his life-long friends Pat Yates (Ed) and his Huntsville/Tuscaloosa family.
Tom’s children would like to extend a special thanks to Vic Morrow and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care (Melyssa, Emma, and Matt) for their skillful and compassionate support for them and care for their daddy.
