It has been hard to put in a few words my memories of Stephen.  I just remember his smile and the way he loved and cared for his family.  I could always remember how old he was because he was just six months older than my son.  He loved life and his Savior. He will be greatly missed and thought of often. 

I’m having a hard time figuring out what I want to write for Stephen. Everything I have tried to come up with doesn’t do justice to how I really feel and my thoughts. I have regrets because I wish I would of seen him more over recent years. I missed him before he passed and I will never get a chance to not miss him anymore. That hurts to realize and come to terms with. Even though I was lucky to have all the years of our childhood to look back upon. All the silly things we did as kids like wishing upon fallen stars to make us Superman and of course for me to be Superboy. To years of us play football and ghost in graveyard and all fun games and family gatherings. Becoming an adult and moving on with lives creates gaps to the closeness we all use to share so much. Have an unthinkable situation come along and rob a man of so many more great memories to be made and enjoy. I regret not making more with him because now I never get to make anymore. I know we can never go back to younger days but I will always remember his smile and laughs we had as kids because we were a lot closer back then. Have to move on and I can’t fix my regret but I can remember our time we had and be thankful for everything. Love you Stephen and miss you.

I have many memories with Stephen! Most of them are watching movies or going on adventures to the mountains. He was an absolute wonderful friend! On our adventures driving up the mountain he would always sing along with every song he played! While talking about and enjoying the natural beauty nature had to offer. He will be so truly missed. I'm sad I can't be there to lay such a great friend to rest. 

Thank you for being a wonderful, kind and caring  step-brother to me. Thank you for all of your years of friendship with Jack and me. We will always treasure our memories and miss you dearly. Stephen, for those of us who were fortunate to have you in our world, we will continue to love you in our memories and look forward to the day we see you again in Heaven!  You will always be greatly loved!  You will always be greatly missed!  

I told my mom that one thing I can honestly say about Stephen is I never seen a hateful side. I never seen a side to put others down. I really don’t know if I can think of many other people with this quality! Stephen and I were best friends when we were little. I was either with my cousins at aunt cherries or he was with his cousins at aunt pennies! For some reason a hunting story comes to mind. I was home on leave and Stephen wasn’t in the army yet but he was in canon and we got up early to go meet my dad and grandpa cook. Well on the way up I got a flat tire and it took a while for us to get it changed so by time we got up there my dad and grandpa had headed out. I decided to pick a random spot that I had been before and as soon as we walked over the first hill I seen a buck. In the military they teach you to put your nose on the charging handle but those guns also don’t kick lol I shot the buck and got him but I also sliced open my forehead. I remember Stephen was so excited till he seen my face covered in blood lol anyway we got the deer out and I got cleaned up and I know it isn’t some crazy story but it’s something I will never forget having that memory with him! I have so many from growing up to when I was at fort sill and I would go see him in OKC to seeing him at fort Carson with his kiddos! The last time I got to see Stephen was at my grandpa Kruses funeral :( I gave him a hug and told Stephen I loved him and he told me he loves me and I guess if those were our last words at least they would be the same words we would tell each other even if We knew it really was the last time ❤️ 

Stephen was late coming into church, so he was quickly trying to get down the aisle to meet up with his family during the song service. He caught eye of me at the end of the pew and turned around to give me a hug, which he knew I required whenever his visited. I always asked for a 2 monther because I never knew when he would be back. He was the best hugger!

Over the 42 years that i have known Stephen i was blessed to always see the wonderful smile and loving spirit that he had.
   There are many things that he loved to do and was good at it
such as, singing being a best friend, fishing, and also being a 
dumb bronco's fan.  Most of all he loved his country and his 
Lord, serving for over 14 yrs honorably, doing the best he 
could for his men.
     I was privileged to have married Stephen and Misty at the
peaceful lake going up to Pikes Peak in Colorado.   Until later
Stephen when I will either meet you in Heaven at the 
Rapture which I believe is real soon or Jesus calls me home 
at death...

It has been many, many years since I have seen Stephen.  I knew him in high school but I do remember him being so kind and infectious with his smile and love for God.  Always happy and we all know how his smile would light up the room.  I can see by all the kind words that he grew into an amazing man, father, soldier and husband and he will be missed.  RIP Stephen.  I am blessed to have known you.  

Oh, how I wish you were still here so I could’ve had one last conversation and hug from you. You always gave the best hugs. I miss you so much already. I miss you texting me out of the blue and just saying hey and checking up on me. It always meant so much to me. I seem to find myself rereading two certain text from you that say “I love you 3000!! I always love to see you smile. Oh and get hugs from you” and “ I am one proud uncle and will always support you in everything you do.” Thank you for always encouraging me and believing in me and for making me laugh and smile. You mean so much to me. Rest easy in Paradise. I love you 3000 Uncle! 

We lost a great man, a great cousin, and great soldier! I love you very much cousin your fight is over RIP! I love you Stephen Diggs! Till we meet again!

I've had a couple days to sit with the fact that you are gone, and I just don't believe it. I know that you are no longer suffering and are now at peace, but there are so many people out there whose lives are just a little less bright now without you. Mine included. I will forever miss you Stephen Diggs. I am grateful and blessed to have had you in my life. I know that when I need to have one of our life talks, you will still be listening. 

Heaven gained a beautiful soul and the best tenor I have ever heard today. Stephen Diggs was my best friend in a really rough college year. He always had my back and I had his. We fought like brother and sister. I honestly don't have a single bad memory with him. We grew up going to the same church camp. Diggs was a wonderful father, soldier, husband, and a steadfast friend. 

 Stephen will be sorely missed but Heaven just got a little sweeter.

I have such fond memories of our days when we were kids in Bible college. Stephen’s smile was infectious, and he was so kind-hearted!

Heartbroken doesn’t cover it. Too many sweet memories and to many fun times with Stephen. He was always happy and an encouragement to me and just the friend you could always hangout with and know it was going to be fun. He loved the Lord truly and he will be missed.

He was one of the toughest fighters I know.

Rest in Peace Cousin Stephen Diggs. We love you so much! 

I went to high school with Stephen and he was a great man. 

Stephen, I hope you know how much I love you! I want you to know that you are an Amazing man! I’m so blessed to have you as my brother, and I wouldn’t want anyone else. You loved with your whole heart and everyone saw it. I have so many memories with you from playing tackle football as kids to long walks while you were overseas. I will cherish each one and I will keep them in my mind Always! I will miss you so much along with your bear hugs and our tickle fights. One day we will see each other again, until then you will always be in my heart. I love you Bro!

Uncle Stephen was the best uncle in the world. He was the greatest person ever. I know that he is in heaven and his pain is all gone. I am glad he is not in pain. He is up there with Uncle Butch and Grandpa Kruse. I know Uncle Stephen never gave up on anybody. He loves everyone. I would always message Uncle Stephen and he was there for me when I was sick and in the hospital. I’m so thankful that he was my uncle. He loves every single one of you and I know we will always miss him, but he is in a better place. I love you Uncle Stephen and I will always and forever. 

Diggs was one of my best and most promising Soldiers. He will be missed.

Today you gained your wings. You were an amazing friend, husband, uncle, father, son, brother, and leader. You will forever be greatly missed! 

Rest in Peace brother! I can’t believe your gone way too young and too soon! So many good times and memories to cherish! Till we meet again brother!

Diggs was an amazing Soldier and a great person. He was quiet and never caused any issues, he was on top of his game. I was happy as hell when he made E-5, he deserved those strips and worked hard for them. I saw his potential and he was a natural at everything he did. I will truly miss him.

Stephen, none of us reading this or hearing this ever thought this day would come. I’m not going to say that you have left us, or we have lost you. You will never leave us. We have not lost you. You have just moved on to the place we all will meet again someday. You’re not lost at all, completely the opposite. We all know exactly where you are at. Looking down on us every day, walking above us. You have meant the world to so many and your presence here with us will be missed. You will always be my brother. I will miss the times at the track or watching football or just driving to the store to get something on some holiday that we forgot to get. I’ll miss laughing about how many pictures mom takes every time we get together. I wish you could still be in those pictures with us but instead you will be with us in our hearts, or thoughts, or minds. Or maybe in the back of the pictures making rabbit ears after over Misty LeAnn’s head. Haha! I will do my best to be a good uncle to all of them. We are going to miss you until we see you again. The last text I have sent you “I'm sitting here at home late night thinking of you my Sweet Boy! Memories are really flooding my mind of when you kids were growing up. One comes to mind of you walking on the fence and falling hitting your chin. Of course, I was at work and Dad had to take you to emergency and what your Dad told me you were saying to him as they were giving you the shots for the stitches. You begged him please Daddy don't let them do this to me. Your Dad told me he never wanted to go through that again. He said it was the hardest thing he ever had to do. Knowing he couldn't do anything to help.
I know you still have that scar. Of all of you kids I think LaRessha was the one that was more likely to have something happen to her. Thinking of when Trissha was a baby and you would steal her pacifier, but you would always make sure she had something to take its place. It was hilarious how sneaky you were about it. Really makes me laugh at a lot of you kids growing up days. We had a lot of good times for sure. May not have had a lot of money but just having those family times were Great.

To put into words what you mean to me is so impossible because I have this Love that God gave me as your mother that is so deep and abiding in my Heart that no words could ever really Express it! God lent you to me for a short while and now you have finished your race here on earth and God has called you Home.

I LOVE YOU BUDDY!

Ever since Stephen was a baby, he was the most gentle little boy around. You never heard a bad word come out of his mouth and never saying anything bad about anyone.
He never liked drama, never talking bad about someone, never any fussing or fighting that I’m aware of. I only remember an instance with a knife involved with Stephen and LaRessha. My sister running blocks and blocks with all the babies to get to my house for help. One time that really sticks out in my mind was Stephen and Michael fishing and Michael drops my fishing pole in the river. Mike goes down to get the fishing pole falling in and almost drowning and Stephen reaches in grabs him and pulls him out. If it was for Stephen saving my Michael that day who knows what things would be like today. I am truly appreciative of Stephen’s fast action and bravery that day. Stephen lived with Chuck and I off and on while he was in the Military, every time he left it was to go overseas. He was just like a Son to us and what awesome times together we had. I loved his hugs and kisses when he saw me, I’m gonna miss that so much. I Love You Stephen Diggs, My Hero. 

So many good memories growing up every visit to Colorado was a blast getting to hang out and go places with our cousins (Stephen)he’s always had a smile from ear to ear such a happy kid. If I told you funny ones aunt Cherrie Dee would whoop me lol just kidding nothing bad ever just innocent kids having so much fun laughing and playing I miss that! I love you cousin.

When my siblings and me were with our Dad for Christmas and we stayed near Disney. I remember we had a very long day at Disney world on Christmas Eve and my Dad had to wake my siblings and me up Christmas morning because we were all so tired and we didn't want to get out of bed. We would have rather slept in then open our Christmas presents. Words can’t express how I feel. God has healed your body not the way I would have liked but you’re in a better place. Love you DAD! 

I remember when he moved out of our house to go to Alabama with Misty. Uncle Stephen lived with us for many years, so I grew very close to him. I remember when he was about to leave, and we were saying goodbye and I told myself not to cry but I did anyway. He gave me a big hug and he told me how proud he was of me. I will always remember that day. I will remember the times he walked through the front door with his uniform on and I ran up to hug him. The times we played tickle monster with the kids until our hearts were filled with laughter. I could always count on him to give us a laugh. If I could give him that hug one more time and tell him how proud we all are of him, I would. Uncle Stephen, thank you for everything you have done for our family and for our country. You will never be forgotten. I love you so very much!

My favorite memory of Uncle Stephen is running throughout our old house while he was chasing us. We called him the tickle monster and we would try and hide but I swear he had spider sense and he knew where we were. I will miss him so much. I love you Uncle Stephen.

I have many memories with my Dad. I remember during our Disney World trips; my Dad was very emotional during the fireworks show. Disney was his favorite place to be with all of us kids and I know that it meant a lot to him. I My favorite memory is when we all went out to buy new fishing poles, stopped by the store and grabbed all our favorite foods (Doritos, Nacho’s, Candy) and went to our favorite fishing spot in Colorado and it was a great chill day. I love you and will miss you so much, Dad!

I never imagined there would come a day like this. My heart simply refuses to accept it. I keep trying to make this post ... but between tears and not being able to reduce all that you mean to me in mere words is an impossible feat. You were just always supposed to exist in this world, whether we were a part of each other's life in each season or not ... just knowing you were out there and happy meant everything. You came into my life and introduced me to love that was not violent, friendship that was enduring, and security like I'd never known. You made me feel seen, known, safe and loved. Our adult lives took us on different paths - but the impact you made on my life has marked me forever. Thank you, Stephen, for everything.

You will forever have a special place in my heart. Ever since I was little, you have been one of the two father figures of my life and I will never be able to thank you enough for being there for me through everything. Thank you for always believing in me and my dreams. I have no words to describe the pain of you leaving but I know that you are in no more pain. I love you! 

Words fail so epically as I attempt to quantify the depth of what your life has meant to me. Our adult lives went in different directions…but the impact you made on my life when we were young will last eternally. You introduced me to authentic love, made this broken girl feel beautiful and seen, you made me feel secure in a very scary world. On some of my hardest days, you held me and kept me safe. Trying to navigate life with you not in this world feels excruciatingly impossible…and you are absolutely one of hardest goodbyes of my life. Stephen, your life mattered. Your life left a lasting impact on so many. Your life will be forever remembered, celebrated and cherished. Always!

Uncle Stephen, you were such an amazing person!! You always had an infectious smile on your face even when you were going through hard times. You were like a Dad to me and I will always hold our memories close in my heart. Even still when I hear a country song on the radio, I try to sing, but it just brings me to tears because that was our thing we did whenever we were in the car. I’m gonna miss your hugs too and you always teasing me about anything and everything. I love you so much. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

My favorite memory of Stephen is when we would sit down and watch Marvel movies and breaking down the story. He always was questioning why they did something and that’s how the conversation started. I will miss you so much. Love you!

He loved singing Boys to Men, “The End of the Road”. Watching him was amazing! Loved the late-night taco bell runs. He is always will be amazing! 

I can’t believe I don’t have one picture from the 4th of July get together. Well the only pictures I have from that are of the food and desserts. But I will say, that night was the happiest and most comfortable I’d seen Stephen since I met him. I was so happy he was able to join us, and loved him always calling me “Mrs. Leah!”.

Love…that is what I think of when I think of you. Every time anyone was around you, they felt loved. Your smile was always on and hugs that could help you through the good times and the bad. When you were around, I just knew I was loved, oh and his laugh…how could you not laugh and feel what he was feeling. So many wonderful memories growing up and into adulthood. The simple times in life are the most important. Camping and fishing are some of the best. We would explore, get dirty and just go all day. We would end up finally crashing into bed from exhaustion. Sitting around the fire is a place I go back to every time I smell a campfire. Stephen’s love was in every part of his life, his family, God & Country. Those beautiful children that made his life whole. I love that he passed on many things to them including his smile and love of family. Misty his amazing wife that has carried this whole family with her through this. Her strength and eloquence and love are what the entire family leaned on and clung to. Your love story is beautiful and lives on in our hearts. I don’t have the best words. What I do have is a heart that is broken from the love that Stephen poured in and showed to me my whole life. I would not trade those memories to erase the pain. He will always be in my heart and I will always remember the LOVE. 

Stephen, even though you weren’t blood you were my father figure. When I think of you, I think of when we would always go to the gym together, everyday,  and how much you laughed at me for not being able to do some chest exercises (I can do them now). Whenever you would laugh you made me laugh and I would drop my weights and it would be so loud because it was so early in the morning. I will always remember whenever you would pick me up from soccer and we would have our great conversations, jam out, and how you would say “of course you do” whenever I would ask for Starbucks. I will always remember how supportive you were when I played soccer and how much we would talk about it. Whenever I get the hic-ups I will always remember how much you hated them because they were so obnoxious. Whenever it takes me 15 minutes to tell a story I will Take extra longer to answer your questions you always had or take time when telling them because you would always laugh at me. I will never forget the way you always tickled us and when you taught me how to fight and I got that scar from your nails. I will never forget all of the car conversations we had and all of the times we made fun of mom. There was a time when we were just peacefully watching TV on the couch and out of nowhere mom starts dying laughing in her sleep when she was pregnant with Isabelle. I am so happy that we still have a part of you because of Isabelle. Every time I go to a car show I will take pictures for you to see and when I can afford it I will get a Chevrolet Chevelle just for you because I knew how much you wanted one. I know I didn’t say it as much as I needed to, but I love you so much Stephen and I am so glad that we got to meet and share 5 amazing years together every day. I will always consider you as my dad even though we weren’t blood related. I miss you and will never forget you Stephen. I love you dad!

Stephen loved to play games, the one game I remember playing in my house with him was nerf war it was always me and him vs. Chloe and my Mom.  When we were waiting for the girls to get set up me and stephen would wait in the laundry room and talk strats. And he always had the best ideas, I think that’s because of his army experience.  But it really made me think about how hard it was for him in the army, having real guns instead of nerf Guns and actually dying if you get shot, it gave me a great respect for him and all of the military that serve my country.  And about him serving, before his passing he showed me what the national anthem was all about because I always just said the words and never thought about it.   But the lovely story of the national anthem is amazing and I’m glad I got to share all of this and more with Stephen.  I’m going to miss you very much and I can not wait to see you again, singing and worshiping the All Mighty in heaven for ever and ever Amen.  

Diggs was the nicest dude I known in the BSB he fought and fought till the end. Rest in Peace Sgt Diggs

I am at a loss for words, I will never forget the good times and talks we had, the hard times you were there to help me through. You were an awesome NCO and even better friend. Rest in Peace my friend. See you on the other side. 

You have always been a wonderful soul to my family and I, and always made sure to reach out and ask how we were. Your words were always so kind as your heart was always so caring. I will never forget our fun conversations, but most of all, the you told me “It is people like you that remind me why I do what I do” before you had been deployed. God has received a very kind, brave, and beautiful angel. Fly High, Stephen. Your memory will forever live in our hearts till we meet again.

When I first arrived at FT Carson you were a friendly welcoming face. I really enjoyed our time in that wrecker together and you became a trusted friend. I’m truly at a loss for words but have comfort in knowing you’re at peace. Rest easy brother until we meet again.

You were my first NCO ever. I wanna thank you for all the memories I will have and all of our jam sessions. I love you brother. Till we meet again 

Though I only knew him when I was younger he was an awesome person to be around.

You are a beautiful soul. Your laugh is contagious, your smile is infections. You’re always a pleasure to have around. So many memories in which I’m incredibly thankful for. I am heartbroken. You are a true American Hero who served our country in the U.S. Army. I love you cousin and I know you are in a better place in Heaven!

We had some great times in music class, when we actually had class.

He was a wonderful honorable man. He served his Country & his wife, and family, and everyone in his families very well. 

Remembering the very first Sunday HeartlandBBC was in OKC, myself and my little brother Aaron, Diggs, and Messer went to Bro. Sam’s house for lunch and then we swam all afternoon in their pool.

Great person (one of the best people I ever knew), great friend, great father, great soldier! You will be missed, rest easy! Till we meet again!

Sgt Diggs was a great man. Always understanding and would not be on the side of b.s when it came down from higher. He had that piercing look when you’d talk to him and you would know he was actually listening. “Death is only the opposite of birth; your energy keeps moving on.” May his continue to move on through this world and the lives he’s positively affected.

 One of the best mentors I’ve ever had. SGT Diggs, You won’t be forgotten. 

I knew Big Diggs he was my neighbor in Korea wow!!!!! Sending my condolences to his friends and his family; as my heart is stricken now.
