Scott was born in Ohio to Dorothy J Burkett and Chester Leon Machan. In the early 1980’s, he moved to the Birmingham, Alabama area, where he attended and graduated from Tarrant High School. There, he met his wife of 26 years, Susie.
Scott was a wonderful and proud father of his two children, Noah and Tori. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan and absolutely loved having gatherings and watching the Crimson Tide play. He also enjoyed doing some custom woodworking projects as well as spending days on the lake on his pontoon boat with family and friends.
Scott worked as a computer mainframe operator for most of his adult life. Most recently, he worked for Motion Industries for almost 20 years.
He had a distinctive laugh, and thankfully it was heard often. While he was battling this horrible disease for many years, he always remained full of laughter and kept many of his bad days to himself. He was the definition of a warrior during his long battle, always wanting to keep fighting, keep pushing, keep working, keep moving forward.
Scott is survived by his wife, Susie, and their children, Noah and Tori; his parents, Dot Burkett and Chet Machan (Debby); his sisters, Ann White (Bobby) and Kari Hull; his brothers-in-law, David House (Brittany) and Casey House (Sarah); and his nieces and nephews, Danny, Kathy, Kaleb, Michael, Kara, Daniel, Elizabeth, Mason, Maddy, Will, Charleigh and Carter; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and coworkers. He truly loved his family and was a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed and Saturdays in the Fall will never be the same.
The Celebration of Life for Scott Machan will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
