Rudolph William "Rudy" Morgan, 79, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away at home on October 2, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 22, 1940 and grew up in Montgomery, Alabama.
Rudy was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and Troy University in Montgomery. He spent most of his career as a civil servant for the U.S. Government, eventually managing 26 printing plants in the Defense printing system across the Southeast. He also served for 28 years in the Alabama National Guard and retired as a full Colonel. He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church and served faithfully in various roles in every church of which he was a member.
Rudy was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Miquearl Vinson Morgan of Jay, Florida, and together they raised three daughters, each as resilient, determined, and genuine as he was. He was an ardent protector and steadfast provider for his girls, and an immovable ally for those fortunate enough to be called his friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were without a doubt his greatest joy and finest legacy.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Ruth Vogt Morgan; his brother, Julian B. Morgan; his sister, Clara Morgan Jarrett; and two daughters, Rudona M. Good and Tobie M. Center. He is survived by his wife, Miquearl V. Morgan of Birmingham; a daughter, Kellie M. Kelley (Stanton) of Birmingham; eight grandchildren, Erica Good Gore (Kyle) of Centerton, Arkansas, Hayley Center Sewell (Chase) of Nashville, Tennessee, Ashley Good Johnson (Nico) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, William Center of Washington, D.C., Morgan and Blake Center of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cameron Kelley Maglione (Robert) and Caleb Kelley of Birmingham; and four great-granchildren, Evelyn, Drew, and Cannon Gore, and Amelia Kate Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 4984 Meadow Brook Road, Birmingham, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or the charitable organization of your choice.
