On Sunday July 21st, 2024, Nancy Elizabeth McGreevy (75) peacefully passed from this world to join her mother and father in the afterlife. After growing up in her home state of Vermont, she joined the Army Nurse Corp following graduation from college serving active duty and reserves for over two decades. This allowed her to travel America and Europe, finally landing in Birmingham, Alabama. She worked at UAB for over 25 years as a Psychiatric Nurse specializing in Grief Management. Her dedication to her patients and the staff she worked with is reflected in the numerous awards she has received over the years. She was a very active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a founder of the Minus One grief support group for parishioners. Nancy was known for her witty one liners and her special ability to make those around her feel supported and loved. Nancy was gifted with an enormous amount of empathy and compassion.
She will be forever loved and missed by her sisters: Patricia McGreevy, Mary Eileen (Ralph) Sempsrott, and Theresa McGreevy; her daughter Margaret McGreevy, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and the O'Briens. As well as her close friends and caretakers who have been faithfully by her side.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2024 from 3PM - 7PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday July 25, 2024 at 1PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A private burial in Vermont with her family present will take place in the days following.
