With profound sadness and enduring love, the family of Judy Del Greco announces the passing of their beloved “Gramie” on April 21, 2024 at the age of 84. She was called to Heaven surrounded by her family as she was every day of her life.
A true New Englander, she was born in Foxboro, Massachusetts, raised in Rhode Island, and eventually met the love of her life, Albert, in 10th grade English class. Judy and Al were married, had two children, Albert Jr. and Robin, and moved to Key Biscayne, Florida in 1966. Within that beautiful island community, they created a lifetime of fond memories with wonderful family and friends.
Judy cherished her years working at Vernon’s Drug Store with her sister, Jane, and family. As their family grew, Judy and Al moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to be closer to their children and to watch their five grandchildren grow up. To say they did that was an understatement; they were infinitely blessed to attend graduations, weddings, and the births of her six great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Jane, Mary and Ann. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband and best friend, Al Sr. She is survived by her children, Al Jr. and Robin; her grandchildren, Erica (Ardell), Albert III (Stefanie), Marissa, Allie, and Derrick (Jessica); her great-grandsons, Benjamin, Davis, Bradley, Samuel, Brooks, and Charles; her brothers, Thomas and Michael; as well as many beloved family members and dear friends.
Judy was the family matriarch; she spent hours on the phone every night connecting her loved ones, and her life’s daily actions served as the ultimate expression of how to live a fully loving life. All those who were touched by her quick wit, laughter, devotion, and compassion are forever blessed because of having witnessed her example.
A Funeral Mass in her honor will be celebrated on April 25, 2024 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 5514 Double Oak Lane, Birmingham, AL 35242. The visitation will be held at 9 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
