Mrs. Janet "Jann" Roberts McDowell

Our beloved Janet (Jann) Roberts McDowell went to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2022. She was born July 8th, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama to Howard Roberts and Gaye Gwin Roberts. She was a graduate of Hueytown High School class of 1973. Jann attended UAB and University of South Carolina Spartanburg. She worked for State Farm for 22 years before retiring. Jann had a passion for animal rescue and devoted herself to volunteering for Two by Two Animal Rescue as she had a true love for dogs. Jann had a childlike sense of wonder, was loving, spunky, creative, thoughtful and kind. She was someone who never met a stranger, lit up every room she was in, and loved her family fiercely. She was a true follower of Christ and spent many of her early years active in music ministry, women’s group, and Vacation Bible School. Family was the most important thing to her.

She was survived by her husband of 44 years, Steve McDowell Sr.; their children, Steven McDowell Jr.(April), Kara Sewell (Quade); her grandchildren, Harper & Reid McDowell, Killian & Lorelai Sewell.

Siblings, Howard (Scoot) Roberts Jr, and Keith Roberts (Mary Lynne).

A visitation for Janet will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
