He is preceded by his parents, Carlie Rowland and Marion Edward Nall; his brothers, Otis Edward, James Earl, Wilton, Hurston, William Ollis, and Joe Harrell; and his sisters, Etheleen Patrick, Florse Kosan, Alice Franzone, and Elsie Ancelet, all of whom he loved dearly.
He leaves behind his wife, Virginia Stembridge Nall of Kennedy, Alabama, and his children, John Carlton (Kellie), Mark Burks (Angie), and Julia Williamson (Darren). Also, he will be extremely missed by his grandchildren, Carlie Nall Grisham (Drake), Bailey Nall, Colton Nall (Mary Kate, fiancé), Will Nall, Camden Nall, Luke Williamson, and Tyler Henderson (Ashley).
After growing up in Conecuh County, Alabama, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1948. Shortly after arriving, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served in the Panama Canal.
He began his career in Financial Services as Agent and Broker; Sales and Consulting with The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States in October 1956 and continued for many years. He earned the level of Million Dollar Round Table and achieved the “Order of Excalibur.”
He graduated from Samford University with BS Degree. Earned CLU and ChFC designations from The American College of Life Underwriters.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Birmingham and chaired numerous committees, choir, deacon, and elder.
Sacred Harp Singings (FaSoLa, Shape Note) was a major part of his life. He grew up singing with his family. He traveled near and far to participate in this community of singers which brought him great joy.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of meeting him.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at First Christian Church of Birmingham, Alabama. The family will visit with friends at the church after the service.
