Buster is survived by his wife, Marilyn Pickett; daughter Cathy Champion (Michael); sons Brandon Minor (Saskia) and Brad Minor; sisters Doris Chesser, Annette Byars (James) and Jeanette Franklin; grandchildren Carson Champion, Jordan Champion (Brittney), Hugo Minor, and Rose Minor; great-grandchild Leah Champion; extended relatives and countless friends.
He was preceded in passing by his first wife, Jean Pickett; his parents, "YJ" and Ola Mae Pickett; his brothers Roy, Jack, WC, William, and Gene Pickett; and his sister Lorene Roman.
Buster was a beloved man of faith. He was a family man with a generous and fun-loving spirit who was loved by so many. Buster graduated from Montevallo High School and the University of Montevallo. He began working at the age of 15 and never stopped. Buster worked for over 39 years with EBSCO Media, most recently as National Sales Manager. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster where he served as a deacon and in various chairman roles. Buster loved the Lord and his family with his whole heart. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 PM at First Baptist Church of Alabaster, 903 3rd Ave NW, Alabaster, AL 35007. Service officiated by Dr. Steve Andrews will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham, AL following the service.
In lieu of flowers, Buster's family respectfully requests donations be made in his memory to the Bill Herron Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church of Alabaster and/or the Food Ministry, both dear to Buster's heart.
