Gary Charles Wyatt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected businessman, passed away on December 06, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on June 26, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, to Dorothy and Bill Wyatt.
Gary’s educational journey began at Davidson High School, followed by Auburn University, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His commitment to service was evident when he proudly joined the United States Navy, honorably serving his country.
In 1968, Gary married Mary Epperson Wyatt, his beloved wife of over 50 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising two children and creating cherished memories. Gary was the president and owner of Gary C. Wyatt, Inc., a successful business he led with integrity for 40 years. His work ethic, dedication, and leadership left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A lifelong member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Gary’s faith was central to his life. In his free time, he was an avid gardener, always finding joy in cultivating beauty around him. He loved spending weekends with his wife, Mary, exploring the open road, reading, and making memories with his grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wyatt; his son, John Gary Wyatt; and his parents, Dorothy and Bill Wyatt. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Elisa Wyatt; and his grandchildren, Etta Catherine Carter, Wyatt Carter, Mary Evelyn Wyatt Crenshaw, and Vivi Rose Wyatt Crenshaw, who brought him great joy and pride.
A visitation will be held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, December 13th, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
The family asks that donations be made to the John Gary Wyatt Scholarship Fund at Samford University (Business Department) or the Mary Wyatt Scholarship Fund at Samford University (Education Department), both of which honor the legacies of Gary's son and wife.
Gary’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering love, wisdom, and strength will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
