Faye Reeves (because she hated being called Edna), age 80, of Pelham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31st, 2024. She was born to the late Alma Lois Burnett Jenkins and Lewis Frank Bush on September 19th, 1944, in Jefferson County, Alabama.
Faye received her formal education at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. She was a member of the Oak Mountain Baptist Church, and an avid church goer till her illness prevented her from reasonably attending.
Faye married Don Reeves on October 18th, 1963. They were blessed with three daughters, and three grandchildren. Faye was a secretary for the Birmingham Neurosurgeons Group, and worked specifically with Dr. Z. Hrynkiw on several occasions. She loved to share stories of her time with the group to her children and grandchildren in her later years.
She loved to sew and quilt, having learned the craft from her mother before her, and passing along her labors of love to her loved ones. Faye also enjoyed canning the fruits of Don’s garden, watching Dr. Phil and various crime shows with her children and grandchildren, and hosting family gatherings every chance she got. Her true joy of the gatherings was making various desserts, from her famous divinity to chocolate pies.
Faye was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 61 years, Don Reeves, her mother and father, Alma Jenkins and Lewis Bush, and both of her brothers, Leroy Bush and Morris Bush.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, and wash out with soap any who call her Edna: Her loving sister in law, Helen Bush; Her daughters, Joy Bryson, Susan Moncada, and Paula Davis; Her grandchildren, Rebecca Garrick, Sarah and John Davis; Many other nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly; Her pets, Brittany and Cece.
A Special thank you to her Care Team, who helped make her passing as peaceful as possible. Without you, her family would have been lost.
The funeral to lay Faye Reeves to rest will be on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024. The viewing will be at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, beginning at 11:00-11:30 am. Her Graveside Service will be performed by Pastor George Golden at the Oak Mountain Baptist Church in Pelham, at 12 noon.
In Lieu of Flowers, please make memorial donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society. Faye fought MS for many years, and lost her beloved husband to cancer, so both are close to the hearts of her family.
