Dash meant a lot to me. I will never forget that day when I found out what happened I burst into tears. I went to the same school as him. He would get bullied I wanted to stand up for him but I was too scared and afraid. If I could say one last thing to him it would be." you were the boy that I looked at at lunch hoping you would see me, you were the boy that I looked at in the hallways hoping you would see me, you were the boy I looked for in the gym wished you would have seen me."I will never forget your dash and you will always have a place in my heart.

Hello Dash Parents, I know your sad about your sons passing but I want you to know that you need to keep your head up and stay positive dealing with a passing of loved one especially your son can be really hard and I know it cause I lost someone very special to me and it was very hard on me but I kept my head up so please do the same. I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Dash. I actually came across his story on an Instagram reel that was posted about him. My heart breaks for you because I know your pain. I lost my 21 year old son , Pearson , in August 2022. I  have never known such pain. Cling to prayer, your family , your friends and especially to God. He will provide the peace you need to keep going. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Me and dash have been friends since preschool we would always talk to each other and we would always help each other if we needed.  Also we would talk about fishing and hunting and I could never forget  when he told he caught a 10 pound bass. I really miss him

Dash was in two of my classes and was one of my favorite people to be around He was a truly great student and friend and a great kid overall. I will forever miss him and I am praying for his family.

I went to his school, I never knew him but I have a lot of friends who did, they said he was the kindest kid ever and I have no doubt about it. I am praying for his family, I hope you have an easy grieving ❤️

Dash was an amazing person. I met dash when i was in 5th grade. I was the new kid and dash was on my bus. We became best friends. time passed and we were in middle school. He would always wave to me in the hallways and said hi. He was the kindest and smartest kid. i miss him so much. Fly high dash.

Dash was one of the nicest people I knew. I only had one class with him, but that was the most fun. He always made science more fun with his rambling about politics and controversial things and just the bright smile he brought onto everyone's face including mine. He would always drop whatever he was doing to help someone if they didn't understand something. I hope he is happy wherever he might be and knows how many people loved him. To his family and friends, I hope you have an easy grieving.

Dash was brilliant and funny. He was always able to put a smile on people's faces and was able to help everyone. If someone needed help he would rush over and help them understand and help work it out. Even if making jokes and putting a smile on people's faces would get him in trouble he would still do it.  He never stopped smiling and he always was kind and sweet. I only knew him for 3 years but it should have been longer and not ended this short. Fly high dash.

One time Dash had a pass to get on the field while the varsity football team was playing. We went into the locker room, got Gatorade, and had a lot of fun. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life.

I had the joy of teaching Dash PE every day in 4th and 5th grade at Brock’s Gap. He would come into the gym with his big smile and always excited to see what we were going to play.  Then, at Bumpus I got to teach him in Health elective last year and then again this year for these past 8 weeks. Any teacher that taught Dash would say he was special, and he was. We had a bond and I’ll miss that beautiful smile making me laugh every day. We shared a love of the lake, classic rock, Ronald Reagan, and Zach Bryan. I can say with sincerity, man, I really loved that kid. I will miss him greatly ❤️

hey I was one of Dashes best friends it was so hard for me to hear about his untimely death but one thing that I will always remember about Dash is his care free attitude and him always talking about politics

Dash was a good friend of mine. He was always interested in politics, gave good advice when I needed it, pushed me to work hard, and was a great friend. 

I wish he was still here with us at school, and it hurt my heart to hear that he had passed away.

We are Grayson's parents. Dash was a lovely young man. He made Grayson feel welcome here in Hoover when they met and became friends in the 4th grade. They remained good friends ever since and Grayson will always miss him.

Dash was the homie, he had so many friends. He once got angry at me for not doing any work in English. I would say we were great friends and my condolences to the family. I cannot believe the unimaginable pain you are going through and I cannot believe this happened. I am so, so sorry that happened and I hope you are not too hurt by this. Just know, if you're having a bad day, it will pass over and tomorrow will be a better day. If its the worst day of your life, just know, the only way to go is up. Love you.

Dash was a friend of mine, he and I went to the same school. He used to sit by me in ELA and we would have a good laugh. Once, I was playing a game and he thought I was bad at it, so he tried it and I beat him. We had so much fun and I will never forget that. The library was packed on March 6. I loved Dash. So much. Dash had such a contagious laugh and smile and I can't ever remember being down when Dash was around. He introduced me to some of my favorite songs and movies. I know he had a big passion to be in the Air Force and I would always think "I wish I knew what I wanted to do, like Dash does" He was very driven, and I loved that about him. I remember all of our memories, tubing at the lake, jumping off the bridge into the lake (even though I was terrified somehow dash convinced me to do it), playing games, him tickling me till I couldn't breathe, and all the other small memories I have with him. I pray daily for anyone hurting and grieving this loss. I know everyones lives are different without him in it and it hurts. I love the Barton family, and I hope everyone gets through this and comes out stronger than before.

To the Barton Family, WE don’t know you personally but our heart pours out to you and your family. My daughter Elizabeth was friends with Dash and his kindred spirit towards others was definitely ONE of a kind. Elizabeth shared that HE was always nice to everyone no matter if they were popular or not; that’s what she loved about Dash .

Dash was always so nice he was always the life of the party, he would always find a way to make something political he even named our plant in science Ronald Regan. He would always help us out with things but he wouldn't stop to think about asking a question for us or the teachers. At times it was reasonable and other times it would make the whole class laugh when he was in your class you would laugh at some point I only had two classes but when he had a dumb question you could see the goofiest smile on his face. But he was also always productive he had grades way better than mine but he would also struggle he would ask us(Me Ayana Davyn or someone else in the class rarely the teacher. All I'm trying to say is that he was always fun even though we never hung out after school it probably would've been a blast the way that Camp/Carson/Andrew explained it to be.Lastly, I hope you Mrs./Mr. Barton, I hope you don't get over it but you can just feel better and always remember your son for all the good things he's done and I hope that all our messages will prove this to y'all.

Dash was such an amazing friend to me. You had such an amazing heart and soul there was no one else like him he was so special. He knew just how to light every room with joy he always made the funniest jokes to put a smile on your face. He cared for everyone he would do anything to make sure you ok and if you ever needed help with anything then he would always help you. He was so smart and intelligent I've never met someone as smart and intelligent as Dash. I wish he knew how much he was loved, especially from me I appreciated how much he cared about me and how much love and joy he brought to me. But I know that he is in a better place now and I am praying for his family and all of his friends to find a sense of peace in their hearts through the hard times. So all my love goes out to my great friend Dashel Barton and his family. I love you Dash rest in peace.

At the beginning of the school year I was alone at the lunch table, and Dash came to sit by me. We talked for half an hour talking about guns, fishing, and hunting. He made me feel wanted and special. To everybody that was close to Dash, I am so sorry that this happened and I wish you easy grieving.

Dash was always so funny around school and he would always have my back if I didn't finish the math homework he was so smart and funny.

Dash was such a great person and I am sorry for his family. He was the kindest human I had ever met and my first friend when I moved here.  Playing and having fun with him always lit up my day.  I will miss him dearly.

Dash was always the sweetest little boy. I remember him and Atticus coming over when we were having family time and he was always so intrigued with what everyone was doing. His little laugh was contagious and he had the most adorable smile the planet has ever seen. I loved seeing him smile and giving him candy and making silly faces with each other. He was a ball of entertainment and joy and curiosity. I'm gonna miss you little man. I love you. We all will. Endlessly. You were a light in everyone's life since the moment you entered the world. And your light will always shine on us in memory

I remember a 3 year old and 4 year old Dash running around Hoover High School baseball field while I watched my son play. Dash would push his dump truck over to where I sat and show me all his rocks and baseballs he had collected (maybe a Gatorade bottle). He also loved my little dog, Pepper, and would come to pet and hold her. I am heartbroken for the Barton family, but I am touched that I have such precious memories of this sweet boy!
