Cindy was born on May 13, 1953 in Malvern, AR to Clinton and Ivy Johnson. She was raised from an early age in Florence, AL. She graduated from The University of North Alabama with a double major in accounting and Management Information Systems, after which she went to work for Alabama Gas Corporation in Birmingham, AL. She continued her career at BellSouth, where she retired in 2000.
Cindy had a zest for life and was always the life of the party. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends that she loved dearly, and she never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cindy was a gourmet cook and had a passion for entertaining. She died in her sleep while watching Food Network, her favorite tv channel. She was also a gifted gardener and loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. Her other passions were Alabama Football and her pets: Copper, Ellie, and her precious Emma.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Earl Smith, Jr. of Leeds, AL; her sister, Kathy Johnson Owens (John) of Birmingham; her brother, Mike Johnson (Marilyn) of Minnesota; and brother, Raymond Johnson. She also leaves behind her beloved nephew, John M. Owens of Atlanta, GA.; and two beloved step-daughters, Sally Smith-Reeves (Cory) and Katie Strickland (Troy) of Birmingham. Her two step-daughters gave her the precious gifts of seven grandchildren. She loved them all so much.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Ivy Johnson of Florence, AL.
