Christy Kay Ellis

Christy Kay Ellis, 66, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born August 9, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama to Wanda Mae Locke Johnson and the late William Brooks Johnson.

Christy, a graduate of Fairfield High School, earned the Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Samford University. She enjoyed a long career as an RN at Baptist Princeton Hospital and Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. While she found serving hospital patients and playing piano to be personally fulfilling, she often told co-workers and friends that her greatest satisfaction in her adult life came from her many roles as the mother of four sons.

Christy is survived by her husband, David Christopher Ellis, to whom she was married on May 2, 1981; their sons, Jason Ellis (Sarah), Cory Ellis (Katie), Zack Ellis, and Josh Ellis; her mother, Wanda Mae Locke Johnson; and her two brothers, Michael Johnson (Jan) and Rodney Johnson (Becky).

The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 1-2 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Christy at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
