He was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on July 9, 1952, and was a long-time resident of Chelsea, Alabama.
Chester was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, Earnest L. Parker and Minnie Bell (Massey) Parker, his father and mother, Chester Hayden Ingram Sr. and Mary Mae (Parker) Ingram, and his brother, Norbory Eugene “Gene” Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Elizabeth (Rutherford) Ingram, sisters Sarah Bernice Jackson and Mary Melrose (Jackson) Brooks, daughter Stacey Catherine (Ingram) Staples, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Chester had a life-long love of motorcycles, getting very early lessons from his big brother, Gene. He was a gentle man, but he was also very outgoing, loved a good conversation, and was always ready with a hearty laugh.
Chester joined the Navy for six years of active duty in order to qualify for advanced engineering school. Upon completion, he was assigned to the USS Truxton, a nuclear-powered guided missile frigate. When he left the Navy, he worked in research and development for General Atomics in San Diego, California. He went into field engineering for a major data communications company and entered the corporate world in 1979, supporting private data networks for many years until he retired. This included Regions Bank, where he managed the relocation of their data services to a new data center.
We love you, Chester, and we already miss you more than we can say. Rest well.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled within a few months.
