He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 6, 1942.
Bob graduated from Ensley High School and then earned a Mathematics degree from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. He enjoyed a long career at AT&T for 37 years in management. He was a gentleman and a scholar. He loved softball and baseball, but mostly he loved people and The Lord.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mike Bennett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Horne Bennett. Daughter, Becky Bennett; Daughter-in-law, Laurie Bennett; Grandchildren, Ashley Perkins (Nick), Casey Bennett (Kelly), and Brooks Bennett; Great Grandchildren, Bennett and Bodie Perkins.
A visitation for Bob will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service beginning 3:00 PM. 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
