Betty Jo Jackson Taylor of Birmingham, Alabama went to her Heavenly Home on Monday, June 15, 2020 just five days after celebrating her 93rd birthday with her loving family. Betty was a longtime member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church and in recent years attended church at Danberry Retirement Home with so many of her dear friends. She graduated from Ensley High School and spent countless hours writing the newsletter to keep her classmates connected. Following high school, she attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. It was at the University where she met the handsome, Robert “Bob” Taylor, who became her beloved husband of 71 years. She was a lady of many talents and gifts. Betty especially loved the time she spent in her garden and arranging flowers. She was a lifetime member of The Garden Club of Alabama, Inc. and won “Best in the Show” for many of her beautiful arrangements. Betty was involved with several garden clubs including Vestavia Hills, Inverness, and Barkley Square. She found great joy in sharing the talents the Lord had given her to prepare beautiful flowers for events at Briarwood and the altar every Sunday at Danberry. When she wasn’t busy with flowers, she enjoyed playing cards, painting with her great grandchildren, playing golf and watching Alabama football with her husband. She was a woman of beauty and grace who loved the Lord and always worked to make everything around her lovely. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert Taylor. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Taylor Shepherd (Hal), a son, Robert L. Taylor, Jr., five grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor Earnest (Tim), Robert Michael Taylor, Holly Shepherd Lollar (Chris), Wilson Hunter Shepherd (Sarah) and Michael Taylor Shepherd (Carol) as well as 11 great grandchildren. A service will be held for the family on Friday, June 19th at the Alabama National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, whom she dearly missed. We are forever grateful to her for loving and teaching our family so well.
