Betty D. Estes

Betty was born on June 1, 1930 to Clara and Auston Daugherty in Columbus, Georgia. Betty graduated

from Jordan High School in 1948, then after high school she worked for Southern Bell Telephone

Company and later worked for the Honorable Judge Garrett Hagan of Sylacauga, Alabama. On July 24, 1949, she married Hugh Estes of Columbus, Georgia. Betty and Hugh went on to have one

child, Pamela Jean Estes Whisonant.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Estes; her daughter, Pamela Jean Estes Whisonant; and her

brother, Wallace Daugherty. She is survived by her sister, Renee Hebson (Mac) and their son Bryan

Hebson; her son-in-law Michael Whisonant, Sr. (Liz); her granddaughter, Brooke Patterson (David); her

grandson, Michael Whisonant, Jr. (Lindsey); and her great-grandchildren Henry Patterson, Grant

Patterson, Grace Patterson, Michael Whisonant, III (Tripp), and Finnley Whisonant.

Services will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, on June 29, 2023 with

visitation at 9:00, the funeral service at 10:00 with graveside following. In lieu of flowers, the family

requests donations be made to Shades Crest Baptist Church.
