Jane was known for her deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ which overflowed into everything she lived for. She was a fiercely faithful friend, a fighter for the helpless, a devoted wife to her love, and a champion mother to her adoring children. Jane was a deep well of wisdom, a natural leader and a creative artist at heart. She has left a legacy of love in her wake and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jane was born in Kosciusko, MS on November 5, 1962 to parents Howard Duane Park and Martha King Park. She was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Briarwood Christian High School. She then went on to get her undergraduate degree at Bryan College, where she met her husband Kevin DeLaney, who she married on March 15, 1986.
After college, Jane moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the Christian Action Counsel, where she helped establish crisis pregnancy centers throughout the United States. Jane had a deep passion for helping and loving the unborn and women in need. Following this gifting, in 1986 she moved to Euless, TX, where at the age of 24 she became the Director of what was, at the time, the largest crisis pregnancy center in the country. Over the years, tens of thousands of lives have been saved through the work of this CPC.
Toward the end of Kevin and Jane’s time in Texas, they began to grow a family with the birth of their eldest daughter. Various ministry opportunities led them to North Carolina, Ohio and eventually Birmingham in 2002, where they planted roots and raised their four children.
In 2003, Jane left her job at Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Care Center to create a business founded on her long time idea of making dinner time easier for families, which came to life as Emeals. Ultimately through all of Jane’s work and ministry opportunities, her main priority and joy in life was being a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children. This was her highest honor and mission and she beautifully fulfilled these roles until her last day on earth.
Jane is survived by her husband, Reverend Kevin DeLaney; four children, Jessica DeLaney Dreher (Patrick), Jake DeLaney, Jena DeLaney (fiancé Michael Thomas), and Jillian DeLaney; and one grandchild, Hank Dreher. She is also survived by her mother, Martha King Park; her father-in-law, Donald Jack DeLaney; her siblings, Judith Park Vann (Mark), Jennifer Park Cochran (Steve), Nathan Park (Dee), and Elizabeth Park Stockli; and her brother-in-law, Robert Keith DeLaney (Jennifer). She will also be dearly missed by her 13 nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Howard Duane Park; her mother-in-law, Isabella Brown DeLaney; and her infant nephew, Stephen Cochran. While Jane was blessed with the four children she leaves behind, she is now reunited with two of her miscarried children.
Jane’s funeral will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Mountain Brook Community Church, 3001 Hwy 280, Birmingham, AL 35243. Visitation at 12 noon. Funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church. Graveside service to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
