Born March 19, 1933 in Falkenberg, Germany to Franz and Selma (Laqua) Ollmann, she married Horst Sigbert Hupke October 31, 1954 in Ostrach, Germany. He survives.
Also surviving are Peter P. (Teresa) Hupke of Delavan, Michael J. Hupke of Pekin and David R. Hupke of Maine; one grandson, Daniel T. (Jessica) Hupke of East Peoria; one step-grandson, Dustin (Krista) Burris of Germantown Hills and three great-grandchildren, Elena, Caelyn and Jolie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Margaret “Gretel” Sandmann, Hildegard Janowski, Renate Baldwin and Lydia Fuchs.
Wally worked at Pekin Community High School for several years as a server in the cafeteria. She also devoted herself to caring for her family.
She danced all over God’s creation with Horst, accompanied by German and polka music.
Wally was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her private graveside service will be at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Toluca.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
