Born January 17, 1950 in Peoria to Merle and Mary (Briggs) Schultz, he married his soul mate, Mona Fildes (Graves), in 2008. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters from his first marriage, Amanda (Eric Rasmussen) Schultz of Portland, Oregon and Allison (Mike) Hartnett of Atlanta, Georgia two grandchildren, Margot Rasmussen and Henry Hartnett; Mona’s three children, Tawnya Graves of Terre Haute, Indiana, Eric (Ashley) Graves of Pekin, Illinois and Tracy Haas of Pekin, Illinois and eight grandchildren; five siblings, Fred Schultz of Marquette Heights, Illinois, Marilyn Perry of Marquette Heights, Illinois, Patty Benker-Schultz of Dunlap, Illinois, Susie (Tim) Gorsage of Washington, Illinois and Teresa (Tim) Spore of Edelstein, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Dan Perry.
Bob bravely served in the 1st Battalion 77th Artillery Regiment in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He grew up in Creve Coeur and graduated from Spalding High School.
Bob made a career as a machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. while also pursuing his true passions of landscaping, building, and completing odd jobs both at home and for others. Following his retirement, he continued his love of cultivating beauty, was never without a project to be completed, and created a beautiful home together with Mona.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024 at The Encounter. Tracey Pfeiffer will officiate. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
