Born October 14, 1948 in Pekin to John William and Marie Elizabeth (Lawson) Hendricks, he married Bettye Horner on August 16, 1969 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Heather (Christian) Wheeler of Noblesville, Indiana; one son, Geoff (Cambrea) Hendricks of Morton and three grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert “Robb” Sean Hendricks.
Rich worked at McCloud Pest Management in Pekin for 42 years.
He was a member of the Peoria Sportsman Club, the Sierra Club and Ducks Unlimited. As well as the ASPCA, Tazewell Animal Protective Society, the National Wildlife Federation and the Humane Society.
Rich went by several nicknames including, Herby and Dick. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and working on various projects he had started. Rich was an animal lover. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, NASCAR and most recently of the Bradley Braves basketball team.
A gathering celebrating Rich’s life will be 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Peoria Sportsman Club, 6404 Bass Road, Manito. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
